Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice directly, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
